Jaesong-dong Dongbu Centreville
Dongbu Centreville, located close to the planned site of Centum City, Haeundaegu, has the natural conditions of being close to Suyeong River to the west and facing Jangsan and Hwangreongsan at the long east-west axis of the site. In consideration of these environmental factors, the residential buildings were arranged to set the latus rectum axis of the site in the direction of east-west and then the pedestrian road and the exterior space to be opened. To overcome the difference of elevation of the site, artificial ground of seperate three levels was planned to use the lower part as the parking lots that cars can enter easily from the ground, and to raise the utilization of the exterior space within the narrow site excluding the parking on the ground. The residential buildings were composed of a combination of the tower type and the plate type. The towers at the corner having vertical feeling extended to the rooftop structure emphasized the comparison with the plate types and the change in the elevation of the residential buidings, and appeared as the main element of the landmark of the complex. At the lower part of the residential buildings, finishing with bricks was in comparison with the white concrete at the upper part to walk along the pedestrian road with feeling the nature-friendly and mild environment. This complex was expected to be able to experience the harmony among the White (the concrete) symbolizing 'the artificial structure', the Mud Yellow (the bricks) symbolizing 'the Earth' and the Green (the trees and the mountain) of 'the Nature' along the stream of the time, and to contribute to the changing urban environment.
